So, what is FPM and who is the ideal candidate? FPM trains you to become a scholar in your area. SPJIMR expects you to increase the domain of human understanding through your research. Milestones for your Research Journey
FPM or PhD journey is not comparable to any regular graduate or post-graduate management course where you operate within a prescribed syllabus and a time-frame. FPM is essentially a research journey which enables you to find solution(s) to the problem you are interested in. You cannot put a time frame, when you would discover a solution or a new approach.

However, if you follow the correct methodologies and steps, you can reasonably predict a timeframe. Generally, FPM/PhD courses, across the country and the world take anywhere between 4-6 years to complete. The maximum permissible time limit is generally 7 years.

SPJIMR expects you to complete the program within 4-5 years of joining. The B-school has milestones and systems in place to ensure your achievements are reasonably on time.
