Top 6 IIMs Shortlists
The top 6 IIMs namely IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore are the front runner in releasing the shortlists in accordance with their admission policy 2021 within a few days from the declaration of CAT exam result.
CAP 2022 for 9 New & Baby IIMs: Common Shortlist Released by IIM Trichy
IIM Tiruchirappalli is coordinating Common Admission Process (CAP) 2022 for IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur. For these CAP participating 9 IIMs, a Common shortlist was released on January 19, 2022. The CAP process is conducted from February 14 to Mid March, 2022. For MBA admission 2022, only Online PI will be conducted in CAP and there will be no WAT round
Two Admission Chances for CAP Participating Baby IIMs
Out of the four CAP 2022 participating baby IIMs – IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, the two –IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu have announced different shortlisting criteria for CAP and for their own selection round.
Higher cut offs are announced for the CAP round and lower cut offs are announced for their own selection process after CAP is over. These IIMs have clarified that the Candidates who do not receive call for CAP 2022 will receive separate communication from these IIMs based on their respective shortlist criteria given in their admission policy.
Other 5 IIMs Shortlists
IIM Shillong, IIM Rohtak, IIM Amritsar, IIM Nagpur, IIM Visakhapatnam are not participating in IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) 2022 and are releasing the shortlists independently. IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Nagpur have released their Phase-1 shortlists and IIM Shillong has also released its shortlist for final selection round. The PI round will begin soon.
IIM Rohtak which, earlier used to participate in CAP round, is not participating in new IIM CAP 2022 and is independently conducting its admission process online and has asked the candidates to register and apply for admission again. The shortlist will be released soon from among the candidates who have applied for IIM Rohtak admission. IIM Amritsar will release the shortlist in February/March 2022.
Baby IIMs Shortlist based on Two Different Cut offs
All the 7 Baby IIMs, whether they are participating in CAP 2022 or are conducting independent PI round will ask the candidates to apply and reconfirm their interest for admission in them by the stipulated date before considering their candidature for final admission. IIM shortlist criteria 2022 focus more on student quality which is not just measured only by CAT exam scores. As such ‘profile’ plays a key role and therefore is considered important for improving diversity in IIM Class rooms. Accordingly IIM Shortlist criteria 2022 focus mainly on following 3 Parameters:
- CAT 2021 Exam Scores: Each IIM shortlist criteria specify its minimum required sectional as well as overall percentile score in the range of 70 to 95 percentile
- Academic Profile & Diversity: IIMs shortlist criteria award weightage to excellent academic record till graduation and to the candidates coming from Non-Engineering back ground. Female candidates are also awarded weightage to promote gender diversity in IIM class rooms
- Work Experience: If a candidate has a work experience between 2 and 3 years in an executive/supervisory cadre, good weightage in the range of 5 to 10 percent is awarded in IIM shortlisting criteria to become eligible for GD-PI-WAT round

IIM Indore has released the shortlist 2022 after screening all the eligible candidates who appeared in CAT 2021 and scored required percentile cut off as per IIM Kozhikode admission policy 2022.
IIM Indore Shortlisting Criteria
IIM Indore has released the shortlist of candidates for PI stage on the basis of three parameters – CAT score, academic scores of class X and XII and Academic & Gender diversity. There is no weightage to the academic scores after class 12.
IIM Indore has shortlisted the candidates for PI stage on the basis of composite scores which have been arrived at by accounting for the academic profile also. The Composite Score therefore is calculated on the basis of CAT 2021 score, academic scores, and gender diversity. Candidates scoring 85+ percent marks have got a good weightage in the computation of composite scores:

IIM Kozhikode (IIMK) Shortlist: Released on Jan 23, 2022
IIM Kozhikode has released the stage-2 shortlist 2022. Earlier it released the stage-1 shortlist after screening all the eligible candidates who appeared in CAT 2021 and scored required percentile cut off as per IIM Kozhikode admission policy 2022.
The stage-1 shortlist was released, asking the candidates to fill up and submit the required registration form so that they could be considered for Stage-2 Shortlist for PI round. After the closure of last date on Jan 12 to register on IIML website, the stage-2 shortlist has been released on January 23. Only those candidates who had successfully completed the online registration process for IIM Kozhikode have been considered for Stage 2. The shortlisting for all the CAP 2022 participating 9 IIMs has been released on Jan 19 by CAP coordinating IIM Tiruchirappalli. IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) Shortlist: Check Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Ahmedabad will release PI shortlist for PGP and PGP FABM programmes simultaneously. The shortlist will be released immediately after release of CAT exam result. After the release of IIM Ahmedabad shortlist, candidates can check their admission status by login with their CAT 2021 registration number and email ID at IIM Ahmedabad PGP admission 2022 website. Shortlisted candidates will need to submit online Interview Form at IIM Ahmedabad website by the stipulated date and time

- 1246 candidates were shortlisted for PI-WAT round by IIM Ahmedabad
- CAT cut off had gone down to 80.75 percentile from 83.32 for general category
- For EWS category CAT cut off had gone down to 85.34 percentile from 90.75 earlier
- 940 out of 1246 shortlisted candidates were male constituting 75% of shortlisted candidates
- 67% candidates were engineers in the IIMA shortlist
Following weightages were awarded in IIMA Shortlisting process. The IIMA shortlist included key achievers in diverse academic areas. Such candidates might have not scored very high CAT percentile but they were shortlisted on the basis of diverse profile despite moderate CAT percentile score

IIM Bangalore (IIMB) Shortlist: Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Bangalore will release PI shortlist around 10-12 days after declaration of CAT exam result. Last year, IIMB shortlist was released in evening on January 17, 2021. The PI-WAT round began in February and continued till second week of March. IIM Bangalore conducted the PI-WAT round in Bangalore, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad on different dates.

Focused more on academic profile, IIM Bangalore shortlist was prepared considering candidate’s academic performance, quality of work experience among others. CAT score was not the only point in IIM Bangalore shortlisting criteria.

IIM Calcutta shortlist 2022 will be released around 20 days after the declaration of CAT exam result. Last year IIMC released the shortlist on January 25, 2021. IIM Calcutta has changed the title of its flagship 2 years full time management program to MBA from PGP. IIM Calcutta shortlisting criteria prescribe less weightage to CAT cut offs and greater weightage to academics

- IIM Calcutta was the last among the top three IIMs to release its shortlist for PI round
- IIM Calcutta conducted PI round online instead of in-person interviews
- CAT Cut off was reduced to 85 percentile
- CAT sectional cut off for Quantitative Ability reduced to 75 percentile for General category
- For other categories also QA minimum required percentile was reduced to 65 and below

IIM Kozhikode will release the shortlist 2022 within 3-4 days after declaration of CAT exam result. Last year IIM Kozhikode shortlist was released on January 7, 2021 for final selection round for PGP 2021-23 batch. IIM Kozhikode Shortlisting Criteria
Last year, IIM Kozhikode released the shortlist of candidates for PI stage on the basis of five parameters. IIMK shortlisting criteria included – CAT score, academic scores of class X and XII and Academic & Gender diversity, work experience. There was no weightage to the academic scores after class 12.
IIMK shortlist was prepared in each category and was created based on an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS was computed based on the performance in CAT , Class X and XII marks and diversity. The weight of each component in the AIS was as follows:

- Only those candidates who had successfully completed the online registration process for IIM Kozhikode were considered for Stage 2
IIM Indore (IIMI) Shortlist: Shortlisting Criteria, Highlights
IIM Indore shortlist 2022 will be released in the third week of January 2022. Last year also IIM Indore released the shortlist on January 18, 2021. Final selection process began in February.
IIM Indore Shortlisting Criteria
IIM Indore will shortlist the candidates for WAT & PI stage on the basis of composite scores which are arrived at by accounting for the academic profile also. The Composite Score therefore is calculated on the basis of CAT score, academic scores, and gender diversity. There is no weightage to the academic scores beyond class 12. Candidates scoring percentage of marks above 85 gets a good weightage in the computation of composite scores. Last year shortlisting criteria as applied by IIM Indore was:

- Candidate needed to submit an application/ admission data form along with registration fee of Rs. 2000/- by January 21
- The candidates, who submitted the application forms and registration fees by the stipulated date and time, were considered and invited (as per merit) for the Online Personal Interview (PI)
- Shortlisted candidates received an email with a web-link for online registration in PGP batch. Candidates needed to create their Login ID (USER NAME & PASSWORD for online registration.
Top IIMs Shortlist: Many 99 Percentilers may not be in IIMs Shortlists
What is noteworthy is that even hundreds of CAT 2021 Toppers and 99 Percentilers may not find place in the IIM shortlisting & Admissions 2022 in the top IIMs. On the other hand, candidates with percentile below 90 may find place in IIM shortlisting due to their profile, academic diversity despite scoring low in CAT exam 2021.

How IIMs Shortlist are announced as per IIM Admission Criteria?
The criteria being adopted by IIMs to announce the shortlist for final selection round is changed every year in accordance to respective IIM Admission criteria for the forthcoming batch. IIM Admission criteria 2022 now focus more on academic diversity, gender diversity and diverse profile of the applicants alongwith the quality of work experience. Accordingly the IIM Shortlist criteria is changed by awarding less weightage to CAT score and higher weightage to other skills of the candidates as incorporated in the IIM admission criteria
All the top IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and others announce the weightage for the components in shortlisting process much ahead of the CAT exam result declaration.
